The Church's social teaching is a rich treasure of wisdom about building a just society and living lives of holiness amidst the challenges of modern society. In other words, we are called to be people for others.
These Social Teachings of the Catholic Church can be challenging when viewed in their totality. Some Catholics tend to pick and choose what agrees with their values and ignore the rest. However, the Church calls us to embrace these teachings in their fullness which often pushes us out of our comfort zone.
But what does this mean in practical terms? How do we translate faith into action? Every Catholic in the Archdiocese of Portland is called to teach and witness ALL seven principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
