In February of 2020 the nation faced an unexpected pandemic that has sent our financial economy in to a turbulent tailspin. Saint Andre Bessette like many parishes has felt the ongoing repercussion of the financial hardship. By March it was very clear that our Offertory Income had a significant drop. (See attached monthly report comparison of 2020 vs 2019 Offertory Collections below). When trying to create a budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year, the finance council has decided that along with monthly discussions, it is best to meet and restructure the budget quarterly. Because we do not know the nature of the current pandemic and when our Mass attendance increase will begin, or if parishioner’s will return when we are able to fully open again, we will be implementing the first set of changes in August:
At the end of August beginning of September the Finance Council will meet again. It has been discussed that if the current trend has not changed for the better the next steps will be:
We will resume the August changes if the financial situation stabilizes. If it improves, we will wait an undisclosed allotted time to return the staff to normal working hours.
Saint Andre Bessette is also facing a breakdown of our HVAC system. The current bid is around $200,000. Without a sufficiently working building we will not be able to continue our services. An appeal for the HVAC system is set to start August/September, with construction on the building beginning spring of 2021.
